Ramallah – The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD) signed an agreement with UN Women. The agreement aims to support and enhance women’s political participation, through a media campaign advocating for women’s participation in political work. The campaign seeks to contribute to increasing the number of women in the political process, as well as strengthening women’s active participation as voters and candidates to hold top-level representative positions in public office. The project plans to achieve this by encouraging media to take an active role in planned collaborative activities, such as guaranteeing gender-sensitive media coverage of women’s political participation, through all implemented activities, not just during elections.
The agreement was signed by Amal Khreisheh, General Director of PWWSD, joined by Hanan Qa’oud, Director of UN Women’s political participation program.
Additionally, a coordination meeting was held at PWWSD headquarters, which included all partners (PWWSD, UN Women, Women’s Technical Affairs Committee, Palestine TV, Association Of Women Committees For Social Work, Roles for Social Change Association [ADWAR] / Hebron, Nissa FM, Maan News Agency, Palestinian Youth Association for Leadership and Rights Activation [PYALARA], Raya FM, 24FM, Al-Quds Educational TV), to coordinate their efforts in the project’s media campaign. Partners agreed on the campaign’s main messages, as well as its title “You and I as one nation”.
