Nablus – The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD), in cooperation with the PR department of An-Najah National University, held a graduation ceremony for about 20 students of different disciplines who participated in workshops held at the university on the topics of active citizenship, leadership skills, and women’s political participation.
PWWSD field educator, Maysara Subuh welcomed the students and praised the PR department’s cooperation. She mentioned that these workshops aimed to encourage the youth to actively participate in public life, to advocate for women’s rights, and to result in individuals who are aware of social issues and willing to serve their community.
On her part, PWWSD Women Empowerment Program coordinator, Samar Hawash highlighted the role of the youth in bringing about social change. She also noted the challenges and discriminatory practices that women face. She then mentioned examples of women’s participation in public life, and encouraged participants to keep the line of communication open with the organization. She concluded by thanking the university PR department for their cooperation with the organization.
Mohammad Murshed, from the university PR department, talked about targeting the youth to enrich their knowledge and expertise. He added that the department is willing to cooperate further with the organization to raise awareness and build capacities on a student level.
The ceremony concluded with the participating students receiving their certificates. They noted that the workshops were effective and they helped to enrich their knowledge and develop their skills. They praised the trainers’ use of unconventional instruction methods, from exercises and work groups, which delivered information efficiently, raised the level of interactivity at each session, and fostered a spirit of collective work and cooperation.
